"Sometimes in the winds of change we find our true direction"
Hello, I'm Kathy.
If you are going through a challenging time right now then you may be considering counselling. I offer support to teenagers and adults who are finding it hard to cope with changes in their life or are feeling "stuck" and want to make changes.
I am an experienced Person Centred counsellor, but I hold additional qualifications in Life Coaching and CBT which means I have the option to be able to utilise and integrate all methodologies into my practice to best support you.
I work with a variety of issues but specialise in working with low mood, low self esteem, feelings of worthlessness ands and adapting to change.
I work with you on a 1-1 basis to help you to address and resolve problems that are making you feel bad emotionally or are imparing your ability to function well.
Support That Makes a Difference
Counselling for Adults and Young people
Counselling provides the space and time to look at your life and to talk about your life in a way in which you may never have done before. It is a confidential and non judgemental space to explore and navigate your feelings. A place to help you discover new coping strategies that allow you to adapt in difficult and uncertain times. It is a place to manage your own wellbeing, connect with yourself again, reflect on your life and develop your resilience.
Young people and change
Helping to build resilience
Between the ages of 11-18 teenagers are still developing their thinking and physical skills. The personality becomes more vulnerable than at any other time and the changes can make teenagers feel uncertain, anxious and inadequate. Teenagers often struggle to talk to their parents because they worry about affecting the relationship, being a burden and not being understood.
Having someone to talk to in confidence who will listen without judgment can be a big help.
If you are a parent and would like to have a confidential discussion about your child then please get in touch.
Whatever you’re struggling with, I’m here to help you achieve your goals.
A little bit about me
Trusted Counselling Professional
As well as being a qualified counsellor, I am also a qualified lecturer and run workshops on mental health and wellbeing, to the private and public sector. I also have extensive experience of supporting teenagers in the role of school counsellor in a secondary school where I worked with students aged 11+ and teaching and mentoring young adults 16+ in a further education college.
My counselling sessions are based on the Person Centred Approach to therapy which believes that a person can make their own decisions, follow their own path in life and live according to what feels right for them.
I aim to provide you with a counselling environment that:
values your dignity, uniqueness and beliefs
makes you feel listened to and accepted
supports your wellbeing
empowers you to make informed choices that feel right for you.
I understand that taking the first step into counselling and trusting a stranger with your private thoughts is hard but if you call, text or email me we can talk through what you're looking for and discover if my approach works for you. I promise you listening ears and total confidentiality.
