Counselling for Teenagers and Adults
If you are going through a challenging time right now then you may be considering counselling. I offer support to teenagers and adults who are finding it hard to cope with changes in their life or are feeling "stuck" and want to make changes.
Most commonly I help with depression, anxiety or worrying, often through exploring specific experiences or relationships. You talk about how you feel and think in the moment and understand how life events have brought you to where you are. This helps you gain awareness and acceptance of your circumstances and to find ways to be more fulfilled – with or without making major changes to your life. I don’t give advice or make constant suggestions to try to put things ‘right’. You find solutions through the process.
I work with you on a 1-1 basis to help you to address and resolve problems that are making you feel bad emotionally or are impairing your ability to function well.
Counselling provides the space and time to look at your life and to talk about your life in a way in which you may never have done before. It is a confidential and non judgemental space to explore and navigate your feelings. A place to help you discover new coping strategies that allow you to adapt in difficult and uncertain times. It is a place to manage your own wellbeing, connect with yourself again, reflect on your life and develop your resilience.
As a counsellor, I will help you to:
Gain clarity and perspective of the problems you are facing
Help you to find your own solutions to the problems you are facing
Give you the space to be yourself and to be open and honest about they way you truly feel
Help you to develop your own self concept so that you are more capable of making your own decisions rather than looking to the 'so-called' experts in your lives, to tell you what to do
Discover more about yourself and become self aware
Help you to accept yourself and accept others
Help you deal with issues from the past that are stopping you from moving forward
